Two Words: Yoshi's Island. There's just something so simple yet complex about the game that makes it fun.

Are we talking 2-D or 3-D here?
Favorite 2-D Platformer is Megaman 2 for the NES.
Favorite 3-D platformer is Super Mario 64, it defines said genre.
2D = BattleToads
3D = I totally agree with feverishparade, tripple jump, long jump and backflip!
“A Human Thought is an actual EXISTENCE, and a Force and Power, capable of acting upon and controlling matter as well as mind.”
"The ability to speak does not make you intelligent."
"God always punishes us for what we can't imagine."
SK
You think so?
I haven't played Galaxy yet, so I can't comment.
However, SM64 is the Grandfather of Platforming, and it paved the way for every other game in the genre. It's also very hard to compare the two because the Nintendo 64 and the Wii are two very different machines, with two very different types of processing power.
one unknown gem I always loved for the PS2 was Metal Arms - Glitch in the System. That game was a blast.
Of course, you can download that game now for like $10 on XBox Live Arcade.
Or go to gamestop and buy it used for either console for like five dollars...
2-D- Zelda II, the Adventure of Link (though Megaman is high on the list)
3-D- Tony Hawk
