bears are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It'll take a lot more than words and guns,
A whole lot more than riches and muscle.
The hands of the many must join as one.
And together we'll cross the river.

i'm going to go ahead and merge this with the pre-existing deathly hallows discussion.
for my part, i wasn't happy with how snape's ending was handled, but that's just me.
i'm pretty sure i discussed it elsewhere.

"So many vows. They make you swear and swear. Defend the King, obey the King, obey your father, protect the innocent, defend the weak. But what if your father despises the King? What if the King massacres the innocent? It's too much. No matter what you do, you're forsaking one vow or another."
Okay, I wasn't sure where to put this - but wanted to share it with Harry Potter fans.
I was cruising around the FRENCH Amazon site ( for DT comics ) and saw this for pre-order :
It's the BluRay DVDs of HP movies 1-6 in a collectible Harry Potter castle !!!
It lists for about 185 Euros ( which is about 263 USD ). Plus shipping, of course.

that is freaking smurf!
That's really neat. Just remember, though, those are Region 2 DVDs, while the US (and many DVD players) are Region 1. My player will not play Region 2 items (darn it!)
John
Yeah, for sure they won't play on your player...
... however ( and I've done this ) if you have a DVD player on your laptop, you can set it up to play Region 2. I'm not sure what program I have loaded, but I have the option to set it three times ( ie - pick a region ). I use my laptop to watch DVDs I buy from BBC, and my BluRay player to watch US coded discs.
Also - the above cool castle, it's also available for regular DVDs ( rather than BluRay ) but they will, of course, still be UK region.

That's just the right place for the HP movies too...in the dungeon!!
Hey is this now a combined Harry Potter thread or are we still just talking book 7?
The Tardis (Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space) duh!
there's a general Harry Potter thread here

Thanks Jean! I just hadn't seen it come up lately.
The Tardis (Time And Relative Dimension(s) In Space) duh!
Who liked Half Blood Prince (the movie)? I myself thought it was alright, but man if I hadn't read the books I'm really not sure if I would have caught on to some of it. And, I know others feel the same, but damn it's frustrating watching a movie then reading the book! Oh ya, I'm re-reading half-blood prince after the movie.

i had many issues with the movie. i mean they didn't even tell the whole story!!! they used it as in introduction to the last two movies and barely referenced the half blood prince. it was good but i was still very disappointed. HBP is supposed to give a good history of relationships between certain characters and the movie failed horribly. i was transfixed throughout the movie while watching but ws mad afterwards.
Human kind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one and only truth.
For better or for worse, I decided to watch Half Blood Prince in theaters before reading the book , and I can just tell that there were f-loads of stuff that weren't in the movie.
I'll be reading the book soon so that I can compare the two a little more.
I also was very disappointed in the HBP movie. Too much was left out and it really affected the storyline. Much of what SHOULD be in the last two movies was based on what happened in HBP, so I don't have great hopes for those either.
John
guys, we have a whole thread for the movie here. can we keep the discussion there so as not to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet?
thanks!
Sorry, I didn't know!
John
totally okay, john.
