Grrr...
I wish I could answer these. How do you come up with these ridddles? They are great.
Check out post 18 for a full explanation of the genesis of this and the two similar riddles.
Too much caffine? Too much time on the riddles forum? Too much something!
Grrr...
And what does that say of we who rack our brains trying to solve them? LoL
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
Since I have started writing riddles, I have wanted to write these kind of riddles...kind of like the ones in The Hobbit when Bilbo and Gollum first meet and they are playing the riddle game.
Where these "came" from is beyond me!
Grrr...
From beyond sir.
I cannot tell you how many riddles I "lost" because i did not have pen and paper at the moment. By the time I had such materials...the riddle vanished from my tiny brain.
It's frustrating!
(God... why am I stll up???
I have midterms and work, reports for work that need done before work. I have been up near 19 hours!!.
I'd better go snooze. I am so tempted to attempt to dissect one of Gabe's riddles though!
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
"So many vows. They make you swear and swear. Defend the King, obey the King, obey your father, protect the innocent, defend the weak. But what if your father despises the King? What if the King massacres the innocent? It's too much. No matter what you do, you're forsaking one vow or another."
Xylophone?
Trombone?
you're solid gold // i'll see you in hell
A musical instrument is not correct. You're being too literal.
Grrr...
Aww, I liked 'trombone' as the answer...
Bones in the shed
A musical back?
Reach 'round and find me
If mettle (metal) you lack.
Well, is that ain't the case.... hmmmmm.....
you're solid gold // i'll see you in hell
I'm stumped.
you're solid gold // i'll see you in hell
Well, then, I'll try and give a hint...
What would music and a woodshed have in common?
Grrr...
Key, scale, crescendo, woodwinds, flat, time signature, forte, piano, decrescendo, percussion, coda, clef, treble, harmony, brass, tune, sharp, measure, notes, chromatics, pianissimo, fortissimo, bass, instruments, strings, etc...
Rake, hoe, gardening, mower, tools, bugs, lock, dust, roof, walls, etc...
In other words, I have no idea. Hee.
you're solid gold // i'll see you in hell
Ironically, it is something about arrangement that pertains to them both (just thought of it that way myself!)
P.S. Think in terms of the original function of a woodshed.

storing wood?
it is a WOOD SHED.
hmm, this is confusing me. How does music supply storage?

Bones in the woodpile?
A musical back?
Reach 'round and find me
if courage you lack.
What am I?
Hints: A critical part of the answer pertains to the arrangement of wood and music.
*** I thought I'd change a few words for clarity. After all, it was a riddle thought up in the middle of the night...maybe I should have kept sleeping! ***
Grrr...
Pipe Organ?
"So many vows. They make you swear and swear. Defend the King, obey the King, obey your father, protect the innocent, defend the weak. But what if your father despises the King? What if the King massacres the innocent? It's too much. No matter what you do, you're forsaking one vow or another."

Ask not what bears can do for you, but what you can do for bears. (razz)
When one is in agreement with bears one is always correct. (mae)
