The Fifth Quarter
Hi everyone,
I was wondering whether "fifth quarter" could stand for something general than the fact that it refers to Jerry in the short story.
A friend of mine and I discussed that "fifth quarter" could generally refer to something that is unknown in terms of the whole; an unknown factor; a piece of a whole that no one took into consideration or a hidden part that was taken out of the equation.
I'd like to hear thoughts on that one.
