I see a lot of Bond films going up, so I thought I would add this Ian Fleming children's classic that many people don't realize is his - just remember the car! Dick Van Dyke and Sally Ann Howes are so good together. And Roald Dahl worked on the script - just remember the creepy kid-catcher.

Well, I nominated one musical with Nazis, so I might as well nominate the other one...Julie Andrews is superb, but would have thought that Christopher Plumber would hold his own. One of the greatest opening scenes ever...
Film: The Sound of Music
Director: Robert Wise
Year: 1965
Opening Scene:
I will second Lolita. Only Kubrick would even attempt such a polarizing film, and even he later regretted it based on censorship issues.
