Sorry, it's one I have never seen or honestly heard of, so I'll see if I can watch it sometime.
No need to apologize. You have certainly sent a few my way over the years. It remains one of my favorites - has an Alamo feel to it. It was one of my father's favorite movies, so it also has sentimental value. I do think you will like it.

Interesting stats. Not surprised by 1964 - I noticed a lot of these along the way, as it is my birth year. Similarly not surprised by Kurosawa and Bergman - both deserve it.

A little surprised to see 1965 and 1969 underrepresented. Also just two for Hitch. I was thinking of nominating Marnie but hoping someone else would.

I had it written in the text field but changed it to something else. I figured Hitch's 2 best of the decade had made it and Marnie is his most contentious film. I like it myself but it's not as good as The Birds or Psycho and even some die hard Hitchcock fans don't like it. Just the internal monologue I had with myself over nominating that one.

It's the only Hitch movie I have seen that I didn't like. Considered nominating Turn Curtain, but it was a little above Meh. (now that I say that, I remember some good scenes, in retrospect, it probably was worth a nom)

I'm not sure if I've even seen the full film. I know I started it but was struggling to get into it, so not sure if I finished it or not. Funny because I love Hitchcock. Maybe one day I'll try again.

Sure thing, I've just added a link to it at the bottom of the main list in the first post.

Also, The Criterion Channel has a lot of our nominees, too, and they offer a free 14-day trial. Can't recommend it enough.

Yup, some older movies are also on YouTube. When we get to the 1930s and especially the 1920s, there will be lots of noms on YouTube.

Also, as always, eagerly awaiting Still Servant's actors research!

    Thank you once again, Mae!

I will be starting my research tonight! There's a lot of foreign films in the 60s tournament, which means I won't be as familiar with many of the actors, but I will do my best.

Kinda cute that West Side Story and Romeo and Juliet are side-by-side on the seconded list.

    Thank you once again, Mae!

I will be starting my research tonight! There's a lot of foreign films in the 60s tournament, which means I won't be as familiar with many of the actors, but I will do my best.
Any updates on the progress yet?

I did my best here! I know a lot about film, but as we go farther and farther back, there are a lot of actors I'm not familiar with.

For this study, I kept it to the real A-List actors. If there is an actor or actress you don't see on this list (Control+F to search) let me know and I'd be happy to look them up. I'm sure there are a ton of character actors that are missing.

Thanks to the James Bond films, Sean Connery is the winner with 6 films in our tournament. For actresses, a bit of a surprise, Claudia Cardinale is the leader with 4.

Maybe the most interesting discovery is that there is now only one actor who has placed at least one film from every decade in our tournaments and that's Christopher Plummer. An amazing, yet somewhat underrated career. As a side note, I realized while researching that Inside Man did not make our 2000s tournament, which I thought was odd.

Michael Caine has placed at least one film from every decade except for one and that was the 90s. Mae, maybe you can double-check that for me.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

    Sean Connery - 6

    Dennis Hopper - 5

    George Kennedy - 5

    Steve McQueen - 5

    Paul Newman - 5

    Charles Bronson - 4

    Richard Burton - 4

    Claudia Cardinale - 4

    Clint Eastwood - 4

    Audrey Hepburn - 4

    Peter Sellers - 4

    John Wayne - 4

    Katherine Hepburn - 3

Awesome job, as always! Very interesting. You're right, we didn't get any Michael Caine movies during the 1990s (looking at his filmography the one we could've went for maybe was The Cider House Rules?). But if I'm reading your list right, Clint Eastwood and John Hurt also placed in all six decades so far.

Understandably, this is missing lots of foreign actors as we nominated many Kurosawa and Bergman films, and those two loved to work with the same crew. And it looks like Audrey Hepburn ties Claudia Cardinale for 4 appearances.

Again, always fascinating stuff! Thank you.

Max Von Sydow was in 4 and Toshirô Mifune was in at least 6. Lee Marvin is in at least 4. Burt Lancaster is in 4 too.

EDIT: thanks for doing this, seems like a lot of work!

Just at a glance, I'd have to guess Toshiro Mifune would be in the more of the nominated films than most any other actor/actress. He's certainly A-List; not filling up on bit parts or cameos or whatever.

Thank you! It's tough because I'm just not familiar with most foreign actors from that era.

You're welcome! It's a lot of work, but I think it's fun to look at the cast lists for these films.

Lancaster and Marvin are on the list. I have them listed as 3 movies but I probably missed a few.

Lancaster was in The Leopard, Seven Days in May, Elmer Gantry and Judgement at Nuremberg
Marvin was in Point Bank, The Dirty Dozen and The Man who Shot Liberty Valance, 3, you were right and I was wrong, I thought he was in another.
But may I ask, where is the list because I see it stops at Katherine Hepburn, I don't see Lancaster or Marvin after that?
