Another long shot but it's part of a trilogy that's three of some of the best movies ever made:
The Human Condition III: A Soldier's Prayer (1961)
Masaki Kobayashi

As things seem to be slowing down, would anyone object to lowering the waiting period for nominations from three people to two? Seconds will still stay at two.
Surprising to see Wyler's How to Steal a Million still not seconded, so how about:
The Collector (1965)
William Wyler
Watch trailer:
Also, we are now at 50 remaining spots!
I haven't seen this one, so I can't in good conscience second it. (But I'll put it in my queue--so thanks for the heads-up). However, I'll give you another by Kobayashi:
I nominate Samurai Rebellion (1967)
Watch clip:
This is a very good samurai drama. It has a lot going for it, in addition to Mifune. (Awards in Japan included Best Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay)
Please do watch the trilogy! According to the official Letterboxd 250 list,, Part I is #16, Part II is #45, and Part III is #9! This is all time. I'll be back for the 1950s tournament to nominate the first two
The Pawnbroker
(if we are using the new rules, if not hold this one back I guess)
It has been pretty slow the last few days so hopefully nobody minds us reducing the waiting period. It's two nominations now officially.
Kiss Me, Stupid (1964)
Billy Wilder

Nominate: Two Women (1960) Directed by Vittorio De Sica
