    Star Jaws.
    No - Straws.
The one with the line, "please, Obi Wan - we need a bigger boat."

Jaws, of course, the epitome of the '70s and also Spielberg being represented in the all-time final at the end of all this feels a lot more fitting than Lucas. Spielberg's body of work is far more important to film history, I feel like.

These are the two movies I hoped would be in the finals. Now I feel like a dog who has caught the car. (or a cat who has caught the dot? for you cat lovers) I don't know what to do! Will have to think about it.

Both these films are in my top 10 all time favs.

Spielberg v. Lucas. A movie that created the Summer blockbuster versus a movie that created the merchandising blockbuster.
Alright, we'll call it a draw.

Should the fact that only one of these movies has an iconic theme sung by Bill Murray serve as a tiebreaker?

I picked Jaws because it came first. The both are 2 of the most iconic movies ever no matter what decade.

Did he? I was thinking that his Star Wars theme might count against it and help Jaws.

There is nothing he can't do.

Also, I love that rumor about him (which, as far as I know, he has yet to confirm or deny), that he surprises people in public etc.

Interesting. Googled the Jaws theme. No where as good as the star wars one. At least SW was sung to John Williams' score. Hmmm, I guess one way or another John Williams is coming away with a "Tower" for this one. (ok, couldn't think of what we are "calling" the award for best movie of the decade, so figured "Tower" was as good as any)

I'm so torn, I'm tempted to wait and see at the end, and try to tie it up so they both can win. (i know, I know, there is a tie breaker - sigh)

Jaws - no hesitation. I was lucky enough to see a showing of Jaws at Symphony hall in Boston, where the music for the film was done live by The Boston Pops. One of the best times of my life.

Star Wars can't win this thing. Come on. I'm surprised because there's been so much Star Wars backlash over the years I thought maybe the love for the franchise has died down. Who knows maybe the recent films have made people appreciate the originals even more.

I never had a Jaws lunchbox or blanket as a kid. I've never seen a licensed Jaws Lego set. Jaws never spawned a Christmas special (okay, maybe that one's a bad example). Star Wars has the 501st Legion but I've never seen anyone cosplay as Jaws (notwithstanding the SNL landshark and Katy Perry's left-shark dancer). New words entered the dictionary (jedi, lightsaber) because of Star Wars. There's an entire section of Disney World devoted to Star Wars. Grandparents, parents, kids & grandkids can enjoy Star Wars together. Jaws is a wonderful movie, Star Wars is a cultural phenomenon.
Alright, we'll call it a draw.
