I wonder if it couldnt be a part of Billy Summers?
Working on an article for my website, I noticed that most of their previous King publications were stories / parts of books. Gray Dick / Lisey and the madman / A very tight place (from JAS)
Theorically, I would say that it could be a story excerpt from Billy Summers.
Usually King books are released in october. McSweeney is planned in september. So would have normally be before, except that Billy Summers may have been pushed forward?
Just a theory though

Actually, I am not so sure. It's confusing
The previous amazon listing has indeed moved to january 2022.
However, it's confusing : the temporary cover mentions that it's the #65 (including King's story), description mentions both 65 and 66 but the title of the product is #66
Also, there is now another #65 page on amazon (which shows the cover and description of #66), with a release date in november
So I am not so sure : now planned at the end of november OR january.
I sent an email to the publisher, but according to the dates I am guessing that it's planned for november 30th?

Let's not forget that King's story has been moved to issue #66, not #65 anymore

Amazon don't have a clue what is going on with this release. On Amazon Germany they now have two 65th issues, the original listing now says in the description that "McSweeney's three-time National Magazine Award-winning quarterly returns with 66th issue. A beautiful back-to-basics paperback, Issue 65 features a band-new story by Stephen King". It still has the release date of 16 September 2021, the newly listed 65th has a date of 30 November.
That's what I posted earlier
But as Justin said, and I also got that same info from the publisher, King's story will be in #66 to be released in january

According to the publisher, the story will be included in the first issue of 2022, but because of delays the january release may not happen.
The release date is still to be determined.
