    I find surprising to see that Akiva Goldsman commissioned that script.

    "This screenplay has never been published or even seen by anyone for ten years"
    So that means it was written about 2000-2001. Quite a few years before his most successful scripts ( https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0326040/#writer )
