As much as I love Batman, Spotlight and Social Network are two of the best films of the entire decade. Master classes in script and dialogue.

    Nightcrawler ain't no slouch either.

Strong group. This is where Nightcrawler bows out, but I thought it did pretty well in the tournament.

No love for Nightcrawler? I thought it was outstanding. Tough competition, I guess.

I'm honestly shocked The Social Network isn't getting more votes throughout the tournament. Did people forget it?

Love the movie, but Spotlight, and The Social Network (almost a dead on portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg turning creepy stalking into a ~trillion dollar business) are much much more than thrilling entertainment.

I guess I've never really paid attention to the writing in a film. I just like what I like.

I'd have to watch it again because nothing out of the ordinary stood out to me. Maybe I'd appreciate that aspect on a second viewing, but honestly I was so bored by the film I'm not sure I want to sit and watch it a second time.

I agree they are both excellent (Spotlight was my second pick). Personally, I thought Gyllenhaal’s performance really elevated the movie, though. It would have been easy for him to push his performance just a little too far.

TDK vs Social Network woulda been interesting, but Rises is a vastly inferior film. This is coming from a Nolan fan boy.

Actually, I am now. Since seeing the Director's Cut a few years ago, it's clear that the studio really screwed Fincher over on that production. Sure, it's not one of his best, but it's much better than the theatrical release.
