    Not sure why all the love for Halloween. I liked it okay, it was a fine reboot/sequel, but it was unnecessary and wasn't anything especially outstanding. What am I missing?

    The same could be said of True Grit (an unnecessary remake), but at least Halloween offered something fresh. I thought it was a good beginning to what will, hopefully, be a fine trilogy. The first Halloween was one of the first 'R' rated films I was able to see in the theater, and so this reboot brought back some of that nostalgia. The recent Planet of the apes reboots did much the same thing for me (not the Tim Burton one though - that one nearly ruined my ape fondness).

    It struck me as basic (in a good way) and powerful, with most of what I want from a horror movie (atmosphere, dread, action, a decent ending), as well as exciting due to it being part of something I already liked. This doesn't necessarily make it better than anything else here, of course, but that's what it did for me.

    Yes, The Nice Guys was such a funny movie, and this coming from someone who is not typically a comedy fan. I'm sad to see it go already, and I hope more people will check it out.
