Roughly half of the unseconded nominations are mine

I feel like I nominated some great movies, but obviously perhaps lesser known, so I was prepared for that. I hope peeps check some of those out eventually! I am shocked and bummed that Safety Not Guaranteed ended up being not seconded. I always thought this was a universally loved movie. Apparently not?

I was pretty smart in not nominating more obscure films. There were at least a dozen I had to choose not to nominate because they'd just sit there. A few of them got nominated by others though so I seconded them.

I've watched 198 of the nominated movies. A good 40-50 of the ones I haven't seen are on my list. I can watch about 15-20 of them right now, I think. I'll have to see what I can squeeze in before round one. A few movies I didn't get around to nominating were actually on the list, which I didn't realize, like Blue Valentine and The Gift.

I nominate Jurassic Park (1993). It's timeless, so it fits into any decade. I think those are the rules.

I almost seconded Safety Not Guaranteed a few times.

Would anyone have seconded Wildlife if I had nominated it? I wasn't sure how many people had seen that one.

The Gift!! Faaaack I can't believe I missed that one too. How great is Edgerton in that film tho.

Mike, Wildlife is in my Netflix queue because Dano directed it. Netflix put it at the end of my 130 title long queue so I never get to it.

Fernando, Edgerton is my favorite actor working today. He's a solid writer/ director too.

Oh, good. Wildlife is a quiet little film, but I thought it was really good. Dano shows such amazing restraint for a first time director.

Hey will I like Burning? I don't mind subtitles IF its good. I did really like Parasite (although not as much as the fan club here... haha)

I don't think you will like Burning. It's a very methodic film where you really don't get a lot of answers. I think a lot of people will feel frustrated by it. It's one of those films you have to be in a mood for.

Yeah it's very different from Parasite. But it's still a tremendous and moody film.

To me, Parasite is one of the more mainstream-friendly films when it comes to foreign films.

Still Servant, hopefully soon you'll be able to share with us those actors stats that are always so interesting! There are always unusual people popping up with multiple nominated films.

NBC's new streaming service Peacock launched today, it's free (ad-supported), and is just an additional way some of us may catch up on the nominated films. So far I only see Phantom Thread and Tully but perhaps they'll add more soon.

Their full list is here: https://www.peacocktv.com/watch/movi...ies-all-movies

Thank you! If possible, I'd also love to see if any people feature in all four decades we've covered so far. I'm sure there must be some.

There are quite a few. There are also some other interesting findings. For instance, Robert Redford made the list for the first time. Meaning, he didn't have a film in the 80s, 90s or 2000s that made it into our tournaments. My guess is that will change as we move backward in time.

That is surprising. But looking at his filmography I don't see a whole lot that should've made it, to be honest. Now, going back to the '60s and '70s, I see we'll meet Mr. Redford again then.

No, he directed a lot but many of the films he acted in weren't that great.
