Also I'm kind of pissed that I rented Censor the same day I rented Pig and I got so into playing Hades that I totally forgot about it and the 14 day rental period expired.

I've only seen a few, but my #1 is The Green Knight and #2 is Pig
UGH! Granted I am biased, but The Green Knight is such a departure from the source material that I can't wait to show it to my students this year, to show bad a translation it is. Sorry dude.
Sorry for the multiple posts, but it keeps messing up quoting for me.

Anyway, I have no idea what the source material even is for Green Knight and I really enjoyed the film. Looking forward to seeing it again.

My Favorite Films of 2021 (So Far)

    1. CODA
    2. A Quiet Place II
    3. Stillwater
    4. The Green Knight
    5. The World to Come (probably considered 2020)
    6. Mitchells vs. The Machines
    7. Together Together
    8. Palmer
    9. On the Count of Three
    10. Free Guy
The source is perhaps the greatest example of a medieval romance from the 14th century - an Arthurian legend of the greatest order. Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.

Ask me again in 2024 when I finally get around to watching a few of them.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?

Cry Macho is on the New Yorker list? That's a joke.

The second list has way too many films that were released in 2020 so I bailed.

I'm starting to put together my list of top 2021 films, as usual I'll probably post it in early 2022 as I'm catching up with some 2021 releases as they come out in streaming and such.

For our most comprehensive year-end feature we’re providing a cumulative look at The Film Stage’s favorite films of 2021. We’ve asked contributors to compile ten-best lists with five honorable mentions—a selection of those personal lists will be shared in coming days—and from tallied votes has a top 50 been assembled.

So: without further ado, check out our rundown of 2021 below, our ongoing year-end coverage here (including where to stream many of the below picks), and return in the coming weeks as we look towards 2022.

Pig should be on Hulu, that's where I saw it. Great performance by Cage, was really hoping for an Oscar nomination for him. And yeah, CODA has easily been my number one since I saw it when it dropped on Apple TV+. A tremendous film. I know it's a remake of a French film but sometimes it's done right.
