Hmmm yes and no. No and yes. Yes and No.

If this was a heavyweight bout between two boxers with wildly different fighting styles, they'd both be exchanging haymakers until the 12th Round. Blade Runner essentially created its own genre, Terminator is a lean, mean, laser-focused thriller with just the right amount of world-building sprinkled in. They're both all time classics in my book.

Also, what have I told you about using IMDB as a barometer?

See, I've run across this sentiment many, many times throughout the years. While I can't say I agree with it, I could see why some people might feel this way. Blade Runner is occasionally idling, and while it might not have the pulse pounding sci-fi action of say a Terminator, its mood, themes, and visual imprint have left a mark on the genre that will live on forever. It posits these existential conundrums and leaves them up to us to decide. From a strictly cinematography standpoint alone the film is a work of art.

I completely agree. I've said this numerous times throughout the competition. I couldn't even make it to the end of the film. Yes, the visuals, mood, and setting for the film are cool. And yes it's influenced scifi films to come after it. But do just those aspects make it a great film, if it's lacking in other respects?

Blade Runner is boring. I watched it back in the late 80's and thought MEH... I tried it again before the new one couple years back and thought it was brutal.. DID NOT HOLD UP WELL AT ALL. Terminator? I could STILL watch over and over! Not to mention.. it is a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes..... Cannot think of any other Sci Fi that is... Blade Runner isn't.
