    Also, one of my favorite endings in movie history. So haunting and depressing, and then Paint It Black playing over the credits is just a charcoal-black cherry on top.

    To me, Die Hard redefined the action genre. It was one of the best theater experiences I have had in my life. I went to opening night with my father, with no expectations, and I smiled from beginning to end. I still do. Full Metal Jacket might be a better film, but I had to go with Die Hard.

    I agree with the above. Full Metal Jacket is a great film, one that I enjoy and will re-watch on occasion. But Die Hard just re-set what an action movie should be. A total game-changer. Yippee kai-yay motherf'er!

    FMJ is a very good piece of film making. But I do not enjoy that movie at all, and honestly probably won't ever watch it again. It's entirely Die Hard for me.
