There's no one certain type of music I listen to to "calm" myself, but there is one song that is my go-to when the world is overwhelming and I'm lost and anxious and can't shake the cloud over me. That song is No Woman, No Cry by Bob Marley & the Wailers.
No matter how many fucking times I hear it, it reminds me that if a human is capable of creating something so magical, then there is some beauty to this planet no matter how daunting things seem at that particular moment.

Two classic albums, and I do mean albums because for the full calming effect you need to put them on and listen to the entire album, are The Allman Brothers: EAT A PEACH and Pink Floyd: DARK SIDE OF THE MOON

    ^that's a nice listen...

Oddly enough, here lately with all the upheavals and oddities and stress, I've really been soothed by heavy metal. Judas Preist in particular.
This is my favorite by far:

You may enjoy this Priest album. I'm not a huge fan of the band but this album was so far ahead of it's time. When I listen to it, it's hard to believe it was released in 1976. It seems like early 90's to me. It gets my vote for all time metal album.

All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
