About Gillian Flynn's DARK PLACE (book that I've recently read) :

It was recently announced that A24 and DirecTV acquired all U.S rights to Charlize Theron’s Dark Places, based on the novel by “Gone Girl” author Gillian Flynn.

We now have the official international poster for the film that also stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Nicholas Hoult, Christina Hendricks, Tye Sheridan and Corey Stoll.

“Theron plays a survivor of the brutal killing of her family as a child who’s forced to confront the events of that day by a secret society obsessed with solving crimes.”

The film was directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner from his adaptation.

Producers are Cathy Schulman, Matthew Rhodes, Azim Bolkiah, Matt Jackson, Beth Kono, A.J. Dix, Charlize Theron and Stephane Marsil. Executive producers include Jeff Rice, Jose Levy, Matthias Ehrenberg, Nigel Sinclair, Guy East, Tobin Armbrust, Jillian Longnecker, Ginger Sledge and Peter Safran.

Did anyone order an extra signed copy of Make Something Up (Chuck Palahniuk) from B&N that they don't need? I thought I ordered it but turns out, not.

By wondering if there would be any signed copies of HP Lovecraft's "Herbert West Reanimator" (which I would love, but would never be able to afford, shall there were some), I have noticed that there are some nice and uniques letters signed by Lovecraft, available for sale on ebay/abebooks.

If you have some very deep pockets, here is one : SIGNED LETTER HP LOVECRAFT HPL to CLARK ASHTON SMITH ($4,000)
    >>> http://www.ebay.fr/itm/SIGNED-LETTER...-/380337936394

    Or :
Lovecraft congratulates Bloch on the acceptance of his second short story.

I have signed ARCs of all three books. Not sure if I want to let them go. But make me an offer and we'll see if you're interested.

Picked up a couple of nice books from a high school book sale recently. This was one of those 40,000+ books on sale, all donations, "not picked through", with no early entrance fee, sales. Unfortunately, I couldn't get there until an hour or so after it opened so who knows what awesome stuff I missed out on. But I found some stuff. These are the best of my haul. $3 for each.

JDM's first hardcover bestseller (1975), first edition & Jeffrey Archer's first book (1976), also first edition

Two first edition Arbor House Mystery/Suspense anthologies from the early 80's (edited by Pronzini and Greenberg, who else!)

Frank Darabont's Walpuski's Typewriter, Cemetery Dance, trade edition

I also got some Fletch and Bond paperbacks in good condition, and Joe Hill's 20th Century Ghosts (trade HC). It was a good day.

I believe I have all of his books signed, he lives out this way so I see him whenever he's doing a local event.

I've been collecting Michael Crichton for quite a while. Early proofs have been hard for me to find. I'm pretty solid from Congo on but earlier than that is really tough. I got this in today. The UK proof of The Andromeda Strain by Jonathan Cape (1969). Really happy to have it even it its less than pristine condition. Sure wish I could find the US Knopf proof!

I got Unfettered. Although the book is nice, I'm a little underwhelmed. It took over 3 years to put the book together, and after all of that waiting, opening the box, it was more of "its about time" than "wow, what a presentation." I don't plan on ordering any of the future books.

Really? I think it's very nice. Especially considering he had never produced a book before and he did it to pay for his cancer-treatment expenses. The problem was with getting the signature sheets signed. He could only do so much with sending them all over the world and authors taking their time with them.

I think the next books won't take so long plus you get a lot for the $125 (many wouldn't offer a 3-sided foil-stamped slipcase and ribbon marker plus color/bw illustrations).

Sorry for the side track - I missed the s/l unfettered - but have the regular and the other one with b/w cover - and those are signed by the artists I wanted - so I will just stick with what I got.

plus I gotta save up for this:
    http://www.keplers.com/event/ernest-cline

My $87 credit from Keplers will finally be able to be used

Any Ernest Cline fans? The book launch is about 90 minutes away from me and I fortunately have that day off already on my work schedule - so I will be there (probably with my wife - and at least Caleb). Plus I just got my 1/1 unsigned copy of Ready Player One - to bring on down, plus my well read copy.

Anyone else able to join me? I have a few requests for signed copies of the new book - and I am pretty much at my max. Once I find some more info out about the event I will place it on my thread.

I ordered it to help out with the whole expenses thing. But it still to way too long to make. The signature sheet thing took a few months to correct, then they were waiting on the art for the cover, etc. just didn't get excited opening the box. I am going to feel the same once CD finally prints Prince of Stories this year. I paid for it in 2011.

And I am still a little upset about the whole Golden Son issue. He did nothing to help us out, and we had to go directly to the author to get our "signed" book that we paid for signed.
