I sold it through VFB for 7500 about 6 months back. I’m surprised to see it back on the market so quick.

Perhaps the seller was hoping to capitalise on the movie craze that is bound to happen now that the new trailer had dropped.

Still, why would they sell at a $3,000 loss? Surely they could have gotten more out of it...

I’m VERY WARY of this copy. No one waits till the day the movie trailer drops.... then sells for a major loss. Doesn’t make sense eh?

The traycase needs some cleaning too. When I got my copy from Betts a few years ago, I messed up the case simply by lifting it out of the box and opening it up. There were fingerprints all over it. I found that it can be cleaned by using a slightly damp microfibre cloth and going in circles until you've covered everything. The water will evaporate and leave the case looking as good as new.

Just an FYI, in case anyone ever finds themselves in a similar situation.

My first thought when I saw the listing was that it seemed like the seller stole the books and is fencing them on eBay without knowing about the Remarque. I think the more likely scenario, though, is that the person who bought it from VFB died, and this is a relative or somebody selling off that persons collection without knowing anything about the books specifically. Emmanuel at VFB doesn’t know anything about the original buyer, he wasn’t a regular it seems.
