Wow! Two common sense, logical posts in a row about this chap book and pricing. I foolishly considered buying a copy for "price" and then thought of trading some of my duplicates for it. Somehow, I was finally hit with the "smart-stick" and I will now wait to employ Mr. Rabbit Trick's philosophy -- wait until the price goes down. I don't ever expect this to fall to issue price but this sure as hell isn't worth anything near what people are asking for today.

I think these will eventually settle in right below the Fantasy and Science Fiction ones, the ones with the white back cover.

I know that the printrun is higher than CD's "IT" and the book is less iconic, but I am still surprised that the CD "Carrie" edition still hasn't gone up in value.
    It's an historic book !

If I am not mistaken, this is currently the only copy available for sale on the usual websites

    Dick seems fine with it.

It's a bit steep. Most book auctions are ~15%. However, it's part of the way the auction house makes its money. It's an up front part of the price. You know it going in.

BTW, you also have to be aware of their shipping charges.

Is there a possibility it could be Letter ‘I’.
Not all lettered copies carried the serifs top and bottom.

They are stating it is a presentation copy of number 1. However, that could just be an assumption.

According to David Williamson’s exhaustive list posted on 23rd October 2007, the #1 set was complete I - VII with Halthebookie as the owner.
I would consider it very strange, though not impossible, that it has been broken down.

It seems odd that Michael Whelan has his signature so far down the page. In other words he signed this at the same time that he wrote the inscription. I am not in possession of all the facts, but surely both author and artist signed the ‘tipped in sheets’ prior to them being bound.
