I know Bad Penny had those in his collection (not saying those exact ones for sale, just ones from the same creator), along with an IT one as well. They are amazing.

I agree. Most signed photos are forgeries but the signature on this photo does look like a good one.

This isnt too bad, actually, except for the stupid price ($250), and the fact that one side is a cheap cardboard which ruins it all and shows how cheap this thing is.

STEPHEN KING THE MIST MOVIE TENTACLES DOCKING DIORAMA
"Very rare ONE OF A KIND Diorama measuring 11X12 inches. Spectacular details taken from a scene from The Mist (also known as Stephen King's The Mist) a 2007 American science fiction horror film based on the 1980 novella of the same name by Stephen King."

Very cool piece, but I agree, the cardboard should have at least been disguised.

Glassine sheets are easy to acquire. As there is no marking or printing on the sheet that came with the book, it would be easy to add a new sheet. It would of course be obvious (to another collector at least) that it wasn't original as it would be too "white", but over a period of years however it would yellow to the same colour as the original.

Simon, was there not a chat here somewhere (you might remember) where it was stated that you could tell the difference between the original vs new as you could not get the same material? I remember something along those lines...

Has anyone who has a glassine sheet (either from The Stand or Danse Macabre) ever tried to put a protective Brodart cover over it?

Sorry Kris, I do not recollect that, but I'm getting old... The ageing process itself (the Glassine, not me!) would differentiate a new piece of Glassine from an old one, but I doubt if there was anything special about the Glassine used for The Stand, it's a common enough material in the world of books and art.

now that I DO recall - I think it may have been Mr RT that covered his copy of Danse Macabre.

Thanks! I've seen a copy of Danse Macabre with the glassine and the first thing I'd do was protect it if possible.

I put a Brodart on the glassine of my SL Stand. You have to be really careful though because I once tried to do it with the Gerald's Game ABA proof and ended up creasing the bottom part.

In terms of impacting costs, my opinion at least is that it definitely reduces the price by a few hundred without it. In fact I wouldn't even buy one if it didn't have the glassine. That's just me. Not sure if anyone else shares that opinion.

Glassine is cheap and readily available. A well stored copy of The Stand S/L might have a very bright glassine that looks as new.
I see it as a non-issue. Buy some glassine for a few bucks, cut it to the correct size and enjoy your book.

Me too! But some say do not be so silly..... now I am not sure. I could have bought a Stand (year or so ago) for $1300 and turned it down cause it did not have the tissue. Waited... found one with it PERFECT shape... paid $250 more!
