Ditto...love that inscription!
I have an extra flastsigned copy if anyone needs one and wants to trade for something. I still need a 1st/1st trade paperback of Heart Shaped Box and 21st Century. This is a regular printing flat signed not any of the special store editions.
I've had them cover return shipping before, but that may have been because I received the completely incorrect book (a $20 medium-sized hardcover kid's fiction book by Rush Limbaugh instead of a $125 massively-over-sized Green Lantern Omnibus - ISBN's, price, size, content, etc. weren't even close, no idea how they could mess it up that badly) so they 2-day shipped the replacement and emailed a pre-paid UPS label for the return. I called their number rather than emailing, which seemed to give me better luck.
Another option is to take it in to a store if you have one close. They should be able to swap it out if they have a copy, or have the replacement shipped directly to the store.
I've had to do the replacement-ship-to-store 2-3 times. One time it was a copy of one of the Marvel Comics Dark Tower Omnibuses that was just in a big box with no packing - The outer box was actually fine but the book was beat to hell from shifting around so much. The first copy that came to the store was also beat up pretty badly, so they re-ordered. They were pretty frustrated - they complained about the shipping approach when it comes form the BN.com warehouses. The other couple times the books arrived in pretty good condition - not as nicely as something from Cemetery Dance or a specialty bookseller, but still pretty good considering the massive amount of product that they handle.

Upside down sig page on a book a member not only sent me for free, but also put a Broadart cover on it.
My Books-A-Million The Fireman arrived the same as others. In a box with a wad of brown paper on top. Luckily it didn't suffer any actual damage. The dustjacket is slightly flared but not torn.

It sounds like everyone screwed up with shipping this one. Every store I've been to (Barnes and Noble, Target, even Politics and Prose), the copies have been dinged up, bent, or damaged in some way. I get that it's a big book and more prone to bumping around, but come on.
A NEW GAME BEGINS
Great catching up on this thread and reading all the stories and seeing all the pics... All of which remind me that I don't own a hard copy of the book since I'm listening to the audio download. Guess I better get to the store before seeing Joe on Friday night!

Just got back from the Joe Hill signing in Phoenix. First time I've gotten to one of his signings and thoroughly enjoyed it. He is one of the most charismatic authors I have been able to see.
I also just got back from Phoenix. Would have loved to meet up with you Joe315.
Like the other people have mentioned. The event was a blast. Loved the scene he read. The sing along was fun on my end and it was a nice Q&A. A lot of Locke and Key questions. I agree with Joe that he was extremely entertaining.
On the signing side. I got everything I wanted and more. I was able to secure a unique doodle. I actually brought him a drawing as a reference and he kept that so there may be more of these doodles popping up but mine was the 1st! Also got myself a kazoo for the small price of acting like a buffoon. I also had him sign my UK 1st/1st. He even put Vic on the Nice list and and Bing on the Naughty list for me. A great night and I think all that have yet to attend this tour will all have a great time.
I was the big guy in the red sox shirt!
I was thinking that was you because your hand went up super fast. I thought you looked familiar too. Maybe I saw you at another signing or something.
Sorry to ask this if been answered... I can only find Fireman in paperback... larger size of course. Was there no hardcover?

I think the cover art makes it look like a paperback. Perhaps that is the issue.
