Wow, that's pretty cool of Paypal. I don't use it, but it's still good for those who do.

US only, unfortunately. I would love to be able to use that option, but alas.

I’m just pitching in my two cents: be wary of stuff like this. It most likely requires a credit check, and if you HAVE to finance a couple hundred dollar purchase over 6 months you probably aren’t in financial shape to buy books right now. That payment might look mighty tempting over 6 months but just be sure you have the cash to make the purchase in one month. Just how I look at things. YMMV

I agree. I always try and pay things off all at once (I do if it's a new book), but if it's an old book that is a steep price, I try to make a payment plan with the person I am buying the book from. And it's normally for what I think are "expensive" books.

In order to pay PayPal off with no interest in six months you must make minimal monthly payments. So far I have been able to do that. That is how I managed to buy the REVIVAL lettered and some Suntup titles. But it adds up quickly, so please heed the warnings given here.

You have to do a credit check for that though right?

The same applies to any credit card or credit line. It’s easy to get into debt if you’re irresponsible. I’ve done it several times in my life. You have to learn your lessons the hard way. The PayPal option is not a bad deal with no interest for 6 months. But if you don’t pay it off within that period then yes, not a pretty sight. There’s credit cards out there that will give you 15 months to pay with zero interest. It’s all the same concept, and it’s a means to an end. Just be responsible and not get yourself into trouble with it. In the early days of SE, I had little choice but to utilize offers like this when the going got tough. I had some wonderful looking credit card statements showing a couple numbers and then a comma and a few more numbers. Apparently that had something to do with how much I owed them. But that’s another story.

I don't recall doing a credit check for the credit line, but then I've been using PayPal for a long time with no problems, so maybe that's why they let me do it with no hassle.

I'd always been a staunch believer in having all the cash upfront in-hand before making a book purchase. Then I met Paul Suntup. Speaking of which, is it time for the April announcement yet?
Alright, we'll call it a draw.

I was told there is no credit check if you are a long standing member. Plus, who cares if there was? If you have good credit and it benefits you, you can pay it back in time with smaller payments rather than a lump sum then go for it. I know many that have used the service and loved it. Something positive to share with anyone here that wasn't aware. You do with it what you will.
