    Default Great Music - Round 1: 1965-1969 (Group 6 of 16)

During the first round of The Great Music Tournament, please vote for up to five tracks you would like to move onto the next round. The top five tracks will be moving on. Keep in mind that the percentage of the vote a given track receives will determine its standing going forward.

IMPORTANT! Please do not simply vote on name recognition (or lack thereof) alone. Please do listen to each nomination and then make your choice. Even if you think you know a track well, it's still worth giving it a listen for a refresher.

The poll will run for seven days. Discussion is greatly encouraged!

The nominees are (please let me know if any video doesn't play for you):

The Lovin' Spoonful - Summer in the City (1966)

Norman Greenbaum - Spirit in the Sky (1969)

Tommy James and the Shondells - Crimson and Clover (1968)

The Foundations - Build Me Up Buttercup (1968)

Diana Ross & The Supremes - Love Child (1968)

The Beatles - While My Guitar Gently Weeps (1968)

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Purple Haze (1967)

This one is very very close too. Every nom is separated by a point pretty much, wow.

Hard to believer the Beatles' tune is not leading!!
All that's left of what we were is what we have become.

I agree! Amongst this group of songs, The Beatles should be way out front!!!

With about 24 hours to go we have "Build Me Up Buttercup", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and "Purple Haze" tied for fourth and fifth (our third three-way tie of this segment) and the last place song "Love Child" is just two votes from making it a four-way tie.
