Man, I've not read for shit this year.

I hear 'ya. I was winded after reading an 8,000 page Dean Koontz book earlier this year and didn't read anything for a month or more after finishing it (I don't mind long books, but it was one where you get the same events and situations from a bunch of different perspectives, so it was a little repetitive). I think it was one of the worst reading slumps of my life.

Absolutely! My favorite book I've read this year. The writing style, story, pacing, characters, themes...it's all so good. I would definitely recommend it. I didn't even know it was a book before I read it.

Let me know if you end up reading it. And if you like it, I'd also recommend The Stepford Wives by Ira Levin since Finney's writing style reminded me of Levin's.
