How about some more Perry Como...
Perry Como -- Some Enchanted Evening (1949)
John Lee Hooker - Boogie Chillen (1948)
Tex Williams -- Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! (That Cigarette) (1947)
(Tell me Charlie Ryan didn't crib 80% of this melody for his song Hot Rod Lincoln.)
Here's another fun tune:
Lucky Millinder - Who Threw the Whiskey in the Well (1945)
I think from here on out, I'll be pulling from country music during this era...
Margaret Whiting and Jimmy Wakely -- Slipping Around (1949)
Billie Holiday - Lover Man (Oh, Where Can You Be?) (1945)
I'll second Billie Holiday -Lover Man
"One day you're going to figure out that everything they taught you was a lie."
Bob Wills -- Texas Playboy Rag (1945)
The Andrews Sisters and Danny Kaye - Civilization (1947)
I know I nominated another rendition of this tune for the '60 grouping; but here's an earlier version. Also banging good. I mean, really good!
Freddy Martin and His Orchestra -- Bumble Boogie (1946)
Judy Garland and The Merry Macs - On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe (1945)
Gene Autry -- Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1949)
The Andrews Sisters - Rum and Coca-Cola (1945)
Based on the following info from Wikipedia, I'm going with this version as a 1946 release:
"Babalú" was the signature song of the fictional television character Ricky Ricardo, played by Desi Arnaz in the television comedy series I Love Lucy, though it was already an established musical number for Arnaz in the 1940s as evidenced in the 1946 film short Desi Arnaz and His Orchestra. By the time Arnaz had adopted the song, it had become a Latin American music standard, associated mainly with Cuban singer Miguelito Valdés, who recorded one of its many versions. Arnaz made the song a rather popular cultural reference in the United States.Desi Arnaz -- Babalú (1946)
The record appears to have been actually released in 1947:

And I'll second it, as a big Lucy fan
