    Default Essential Christmas Viewing

So, in the weeks leading up to Christmas, what's on everyone's lists of essential viewing? What films or tv specials are you guaranteed to watch at least once this December?

Ones that immediately spring to mind are:

    - Blackadder's Christmas Carol. I adore this one. A brilliant, ingenius twist on the ol' Dickens classic (which I do plan to actually read sometime this month). For those that don't know, Blackadder is one of the few comedies where Rowan Atkinson not only gets to play someone who's intelligent and a total bastard, he also occasionally gets a beard, as well. Pretty much all the Blackadders he plays throughout history are scheming, selfish gits. Except for Ebenezer Blackadder, one of the kindest and most generous (and most gullible) men in England. Until one fateful night, when a ghost comes to visit of course.
    - Scrooged. Love this hysterical and modern day satirical take on it, as well. Bill Murray is actually hilarious in this one, and I love the Ghost of Christmas Past.
    - Love Actually. Bit of a guilty pleasure this one, but still very enjoyable. Love all the different stories, especially the one with that guy from the Walking Dead in it.
    - It's a Wonderful Life. 'Nuff said.

I also might re-watch This Is England '88, and possibly even check out A Christmas Story. So what's everyone else watching for Christmas this year?
Never be cruel and never be cowardly. And if you ever are, always make amends.

You are a walking talking Doctor Who encyclopedia to me.

Did you know there are plans for a new Emmet Otter movie? Based on notes and drawings of Henson's!

We watch a ridiculous amount of movies. We kicked off the season last night with White Christmas. This classic is usually on multiple times every Christmas season in our house.

    A Christmas Story
    A Charlie Brown Christmas
    Mickeys Christmas Carol
    Grinch (animated)
    Ernest Saves Christmas
    One Magic Christmas
    Elf
    Bad Santa
    The Night They Saved Christmas
    The Greatest Christmas Pageant Ever

Honestly there are probably too many too list. I love Christmas movies.

Have you seen Holiday Inn? I love that one. I know it's not related to just Christmas, but I always watch it around this time of year.

It's rather extreme, might not be for everyone, I've actually seen people become physically distressed after viewing it

This is my favorite time of the year, and I have a lot of movies I love to watch each Christmas. But, my essentials are:

A Christmas Story (although I own it on dvd, I refrain from watching it until the 24 hour marathon airs on TBS Christmas Day)
    National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
It's a Wonderful Life (I am ashamed to say I didn't see this movie until a year or so back. But, it was awesome enough to become an essential immediately)
I always have to watch the classics like Rudolph, Frosty, Grinch, etc.

I will consume almost anything Christmas related. I add new dvds to my collection each year. I love this time of year!

Love all the mentions of the one essential Christmas film I forgot to include on my list, Die Hard. Another one I'm bound to watch that's set at Christmas is last year's fucked-up Scottish film Filth. Not that the story is an uplifting one for the holidays, just that it's set at Christmas and I'm looking for any other excuse to re-watch it!

I'm actually rather fond of Reindeer Games. I know a lot of people hate it.

Totally forgot about The Ref. Nice one, Oy.

The Ref is solid. A more obscure Spacey film. Reindeer Games is good up until the worst ending in movie history. It just killed it for me.

Here's my list (aka it's not Christmas until I watch them at least 34 times):

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Carrey and Karloff versions)
    The Santa Clause 1 and 2 (3 doesn't exist)
    Elf
    Arthur Christmas
All the classic TV specials (Rudolph, Frosty, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, Year Without a Santa Claus, Charlie Brown Christmas)
A Christmas Story (though I'm with Amanda in that I hold off watching it until the 24-hour marathon)

I also try and do a marathon of all The Office Christmas episodes.
