This book is definitely an adventure. I've read it 2 or 3 times, too.

    Ugh. What a slog. I gave it a 2 b/c I was feeling charitable.

I actually read it twice and it didn't get any better the second time around.

I remember reading this book, then reading Black House some years later. Then a few years after that I realized that I remembered almost nothing about it, so I had to re-read it again.

It's so odd to have a book make such a little impression on me the first time I read it. It's happened with a few other books as well, but those are usually ones that I didn't care for much even after the re-read. This one wasn't bad. I don't know why it didn't stick with me the first time around. So I'm going to stay right in the middle and give it a 3.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?
