Default A Review of Dear Reader: The Unauthorized Autobiography Of Kim Jong-il

Most of you are familiar with the idea of a non-fiction novel, but I'm not sure how many of you have read a semi-fictionalized memoir. Fictionalized, that is, by design. Well, there is now an unauthorized autobiography of the late, unlamented North Korean despot Kim Jong-il.

    Still confused? I explain:

A VERY interesting review. I'm going to have to get that one out of the library.

    You won't find it in a library-it's self-published.

If you want to get feel for what it's about, you can listen to a speech Michael Malice made at Porcfest about North Korea:

A bit long, but very interesting, IMO.

Thanks. If it's self-published, I doubt I'll be reading it, unfortunately.

John, is that the general principle? If so, I'm in the same boat. I see "self-published" and run like hell.

It's only because of the subject matter. He's a published writer, but it was easier to do this way.

    Here's a list of the books he's authored/co-authored:

I don't know if any of the writers here want to chime in, but there are a lot of projects that are floated which are shot down by publishers for various reasons. Malice wanted to see this book published, even if he had to do it through unconventional means, for obvious reasons.

Yeah, that's my general policy. If it's not interesting enough for a publisher, then why would I want to read it?

Publishing houses aren't the arbiters of good literature.
