Thanks!
My signed "dirty" DUST just arrived today - I will have to post some pics later.
If aomebody out there is willing to sell the real ugly atomic WOOL omnibus, or if someone knows someone who is willing to sell, or if someone knows where to get one or if someone knows some rumours where probably to get one even if its only a 1%-chance... please send me a PM. I will pay really good... (for you, not for me and my bank). To be a collector is really aaaaargh....
Does anyone know what kind of print run the ugly yellow WOOL Omnibus had?
Got these this week.
Is that the UK hardcover of Dust?
Thanks for the reminder to order the "dirty" cover edition of Dust.
Mark Twain
I got my copy of DUST today with a "Dare to Live" inscription. I think it is hilarious that on the copyright page, it is listed as the Ugly Edition. Can't wait for the Kindle release on Saturday to start reading it.
While I personally don't think the books with have a lot of collectible value 20 years from now, I think Hugh's story as a writer is great and his success has been well-deserved. Will people still be talking about the series on the 20th anniversary, or will it just be part of publishing history? We will have to wait and see.
I tend to agree with you - about the 20 years from now thought (but you never know). Nowadays if the book gets turned into a successful movie or series - that would add to the staying power of the collectible-ness of the books. I still have to get through Shift - before I can get to dust (hoping that my vacation away from kids will allow some relaxation and reading time).
If anyone is still looking for a copy of the limited edition of Dust the Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale appears to have copies for pre order.

Hugh Howey signing in Boston this weekend also writers workshop, and a meet and greet. Anyone going?
I preordered the hardcover DUST from Amazon.UK. I just got it, and it is a 2nd printing. WTF? It was shipped on release day, so how could it already be a 2nd printing? I don't see anyone on eBay with a 1st either. Does anyone in the UK know if a 1st printing of the hardcover exists? Matbe go check out some local stores to see what they have. I'd gladly pay for a 1st printing.
Did you get your copy from Goldsboro yet? Maybe they're the only ones w first printings - not sure if they have any more on their site. I only ordered the signed edition - hasn't arrived yet
I ordered the Goldsboro one (haven't gotten it yet). Seems weird that they would be the only first printings. It would certainly add to the value if they were. I actually emailed Hugh to see if he knew if 1st printings were issued. He is out of the US right now.
I wasn't aware till recently that the UK edition of wool is the true 1st Hardcover edition. Interesting.
Hugh wrote me back - sadly he only has one 1st printing in his possession :-(
So, I will put it out there to anyone in the UK - if you can track down a 1st printing hardcover of DUST for me, please let me know. Thanks!
