it has been snowing for years
yesterday I got caught in the wickedest (and suddenest) snowstorm of this whole winter, had to walk about a mile along the Nevsky prospect (picture below) with my glasses all covered in a thick layer of snow... in this post I tried to get across that ghost-like quality of my city; now imagine it behind an almost opaque curtain of snow...

currently 59 F with a predicted high of 70
The middle of last week was beautiful temperature-wise, which helped a lot of the snow melt off. However, we got it all back over the weekend for a total of 7.2", and today is downright chilly again. Currently 15 degrees, high of 40. We'll see about that. I, for one, am doubting we see anything that warm today.

It's sunny, but only about 50 degrees outside. I'm freaking freezing because I work for a cheapo who turns off every bit of heat over the weekend.
When the temp reaches 55, he'll probably find it appropriate to open the doors because it "feels good" outside.
(I swear....one of these days....)

Its cold in North Carolina,some kind of front came in last night. Its overcast. It fits my mood, no complaints.
My work is the exact opposite. They tend to go overboard, and in the middle of summer they have the AC blasting so that it's freezing in the building you've got to bundle up, and last winter the heating got all screwed up that they had it on the nighttime setting so the heat wasn't turning on during the day, and everyone was wearing their jackets. The grand irony of all this was that my insurance company's main office (State Farm) was damaged in the tornado as well. They're routing calls through Tempe and the agents are lost, to say the least.
So of course this will all take much longer than usual.

lately it was unbelievably fine, just what bears like. Not too hot (around 70), but sunny, and everything - I mean, whatever little we have so far up north - is in bloom: tulips (it's only two or three years ago that they started planting tulips all round the city, we hardly had any flowers before), and lilac, and pansies. I can't remember such early spring (though last snow occured only recently)
I am sure your visit had a lot to do with that
