I was sad x3
Until I heard her guitar
Shinning like the stars
From outside an opera bar
On the east side
The way she played it made me feel like I was back home
Her eyes are like two suns shinning down on this desert I roam
Tell him… x2
That is why I…
I can’t take this feeling in my heart anymore
Hey…x 7
Time for me to step and make my way through the door
If by chance I see you on this road once again
I can guarantee you that I will not pretend
Ok, so what’s new is it really the old pursued
I meet the home girl on the corner of Broadview
And Queen, and she was that, power to hypnotize
Strumming on the guitar and telling me no lies
Behind the dark skin, was a soul of Isis
Priceless, Aquarius Pisces I was a fish
And she was the water, heavenly daughter
With southern twang claiming to be from Georgia
But I couldn’t believe she had to be from galaxies
Far beyond and Kevin was so fond
Of the shape of her hands
I studied the lines in her face
Wondering if she knew what’s the secret of human race is
Face it
I drop the Megatron Bomb
Thanks to Terry and Jackie I just stay calm
I got my heart broke one shot gun…Blow
But that’s ok; I got a new name now

Voodoo Child by Rogue Traders
Baby, baby, baby!
You are my Voodoo Child - my Voodoo Child.
You're like Voodoo baby,
You just take hold.
Put your cards on the table baby,
Do I twist do I fold?
You're like Voodoo honey,
All silver and gold.
Why don't you tell me my future?
Why don't I sell you my soul?
So here it comes - the sound of drums.
Here come the drums, here come the drums
Baby, baby, baby!
You are my Voodoo Child - my Voodoo Child.
Don't say maybe, maybe
It's Supernatural - I'm coming undone.
Baby, baby, baby!
You are my Voodoo Child - my Voodoo Child.
Don't say maybe, maybe
It's Supernatural - I'm coming undone.
You're like Voodoo baby,
Your kisses are cold!
Feel your poison running through me?
Let me never grow old.
You're like Voodoo honey,
My pictures you stole,
You play me like a puppet.
Sticking pins in a doll!
So here it comes - the sound of drums.
Here come the drums, here come the drums
Baby, baby, baby!
You are my Voodoo Child - my Voodoo Child.
Don't say maybe, maybe,
It's Supernatural - I'm coming undone.
Baby, baby, baby!
You are my Voodoo Child - my Voodoo Child.
Don't say maybe, maybe,
It's Supernatural - I'm coming undone.
(Its Supernatural I'm coming undone.)

you're solid gold // i'll see you in hell
confidence is a must
cockiness is a plus
edginess is a rush
edges i like them rough
a man with the midtas touch
intoxicate me im a lush
stop, you're making me blush
people are looking at us
I don't think you know, know
I'm checking you
So hot, so hot
Wonder if he knows
He's on my radar
On my radar
On my radar
On my radar
And if I notice you
I know it's you
Choose ya
Don't wanna lose you
On my radar
On my radar
On my radar
On my radar
When you walk
(When you walk)
And when you talk
(When you talk)
I get the tingle
I wanna mingle
That's what I want
(That's what I want)
And listen baby
Turn up the fader
Trying to make you understand
You're on my radar
On my radar
On my radar
On my radar
On my radar
Got you on my radar
Got you on my radar
Got you on my radar
interesting sense of style
ten million dollar smile
think i can handle that
animal in the sack
his eyes see right to my soul
i surrender self-control
catch me looking again
falling right into my plan
I don't think you know, know
I'm checking you
So hot, so hot
Wonder if he knows
He's on my radar
On my radar
On my radar
On my radar
And if I notice you
I know it's you
Choosing
Don't wanna losing you
On my radar
On my radar
On my radar
On my radar
When you walk

And when you talk
(When you talk)
I get the tingle
I wanna mingle

Got you on my radar
Got you on my radar
On my radar
Got you on my radar
Got you on my radar
Got you on my radar
I got my eye on you
And I can't let you get away
Hey baby
Whether it's now or later
I've got you
You can't shake me
Cause I got you on my radar
Whether you like it or not
It ain't gonna stop
Cause I got you on my radar

So, earthlings..basically urm...end of the world...Here Come The Drums!
Meat Puppets- Lake of Fire
Where do bad folks go when they die?
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly.
They go to a lake of fire and fry.
Won't see 'em again until the fourth of July.
I knew a lady who came from duluth.
She got bitten by a dog with a rabid tooth.
She went to her grave just a little too soon.
And flew away howlin' at the yellow moon.
Where do bad folks go when they die?
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly.
They go to a lake of fire and fry.
Won't see 'em again until the fourth of July.
Now people howland people moan.
They look for a dry place to call their own.
Try to find some place to rest their bones.
Before the angels and the devils fight
to make them their own.
Where do bad folks go when they die?
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly.
They go to a lake of fire and fry.
Won't see 'em again until the fourth of July.

come into the union district
drive down on sharmon palms
white ghettos paint a picture
broken homes and broken bones
i was so full of scotch i could not stand up
i was hitting the shots and i moved to a cup
release me from moral assumption
total rejection total destruction
nihilistic feelings are moving
if you try real hard you'll see right through them
nihilism!
There's one hole in every revolution, large or small. And it's one word long.. people. No matter how big the idea they all stand under, people are small and weak and cheap and frightened. It's people that kill every revolution.
Argh!
I actually liked their version of the song-maybe because I hate Don Henly-but one of the lines they changed-in fact, I think it was the only one they altered-really pissed me off.
"...I saw a Black Flag sticker on a cadillac."
THAT MAKES NO FUCKIN' SENSE!
Did they even contemplate how stupid that sounds before they decided to use it?
It makes perfect sense, to me anyway. For Don Henley, his memories are associated with Deadhead stickers because that started up his his "good ole days"
The guys in The Ataris are closer to my age and grew up on bands like Black Flag. "Out on the road today, I saw a Black Flag sticker on a cadillac. A little voice inside my head said don't look back, you can never look back." When Don Henley sang his version, that part was talking about the countercultural deadheads who had grown up and moved on from those memories and end up driving establishment status symbol Cadillacs and such, much removed from the ideas of The Grateful Dead, but they still have that sticker. For The Ataris, it makes much more sense to use the same sort of reference in regards to all the old punk kids who grew up and moved on and away from the punk ethic, got boring jobs and boring cars, but they still have their Black Flag sticker. Seeing a deadhead sticker on a cacillac doesn't really stir up much for someone my age, but seeing a Black Flag sticker on an expensive car certainly does.
There's one hole in every revolution, large or small. And it's one word long.. people. No matter how big the idea they all stand under, people are small and weak and cheap and frightened. It's people that kill every revolution.
The problem is that there are no cadillacs with Black Flag bumper stickers attached to them, except perhaps those driven by producers of Black Flag albums.
The underlying premise behind that song-especially that line-is that there was an entire subculture that had assimilated mainstream values-at least, in terms of becoming part of the corporate and political power structure. It illustrated the gap between the idealistic rhetoric-and perhaps actions-of a generation of baby boomers and their real-world accomplishments.
When The Ataris recorded that song there wasn't even enough of a chasm temporally between the people who listened to Black Flag as teenagers and the older versions of those individuals who were held up to ridicule. They would, at their oldest, be in the late thirties, not beyond middle age, not people who were safely ensconced within the largest and most prosperous demographic within the United States.
I haven't see an Actual Black Flag sticker on a cadillac, but I have seen other punk band stickers on cadillacs. Now it is more common on cars like Lexus, but Black Flag sticker on a Lexus just doesn't have enough syllables. That probably just flowed well with the song wthout having to change the whole line.
Don Henley's gap was from 1971(when the Eagles formed and also the year whenthe term deadhead appeared inside the sleeve of the second Grateful Dead album) to 1984 when he wrote the song: 13 years. The Ataris did their version on So Long, Astoria in 2003. Black Flag started up in 1976 with Henry Rollins starting to sing for them in 1981, which is when they started to get much more noticed nationally among punks. That's a 22 year gap that they are pointing out. The guys in The Ataris are younger than that, and probably weren't at Black Flag shows in 81, but that is still a very prominent point in the decay of their counterculture. If people were say, 18 at an '81 Black Flag show, they would be 40 in 2003 when The Ataris wrote the song. There are certainly people driving those sorts of cars that wer probably at punk shows back in the day. They just grew up and sold out to the coporate world and the "American Dream," road the technology and .com booms and bought expensive cars. I know a number of folks, personally, who were dirty crust punks, very into the diy ethic who are now living the typical American life. All in all, I find it a clever was to use a pre-existing song line to make a comment on walking away from it all in a different generation. *shrug*

The Christmas Song : Alvin & The Chipmunks
I find any band to get famous from a cover song to be rather dubious.
Case in point, Alien Ant Farm. Or, Marilyn Manson.
I'm not saying I dislike cover songs, just if you're going to do it, get famous from your own shit first.
The song stuck in my head is (Simply Having A) Wonderful Christmastime, by Paul McC.
