Hello all,
I would like your opinions on this signed 1st of The Eyes of the Dragon. I don't believe it is genuine as it is very shaky, but it is being listed by a very reputable business and before I inform them that it's fake, I would like as many different eyes as possible to view it. Thank you for your time.

Thank you all. I have notified the seller and I will give them a couple of days to either rectify it, or ignore it and continue with the sale. If they choose to ignore my advice, then I will post the link to the item here so that everyone will be aware to avoid it. There is still time for them to do the right thing if they wish.

well, at the very least he claims that he can't guarantee its real, and gives the buyer reason to doubt the signatures authenticity. Its current price isn't too far out of the price range for a book in that condition. (although he doesn't show the "First published in 1986 by Viking Penguin, Inc." on cp, so hard to verify it is 1st printing).Sad, sad sad...
Just curious would you consider an obvious forgery to be a bigger flaw then say, someone writing their own name there? Or would you value it the same as an unsigned book with writing in it?

Thank you all for your opinions. I contacted James Gannon, who is Director of Rare Books at Heritage Auctions, and true to his word, he has pulled the listing from their upcoming auction. Unfortunately the seller will probably try to unload it on eBay very shortly, but at least it's not going through a major auction house.Hello all,

I had a copy of this book that had the same rippling effect. It just happened over time for some reason. I ended up upgrading it.

This book is in very good condition, the tip of the book cover may have a little damage but very little.

It looks OK to me, but unusually big compared to the size of the book, so I find it suspicious . Otherwise, I'd bid on it
