You pretty much summed up my thoughts as well. I only read the book once so I don't remember exactly what's different about the show. I think the Craig character is new though?

One thing I do remember is that while reading the book I didn't really like Vic all that much. I don't know if it was the way she was written or if I just couldn't relate to her in any way or what but I remember thinking it was odd that I had a hard time rooting for the main protagonist in a story. I like the character from the show much better.

I'm curious to see where they'll go with S2. If they'll do the time jump like the book or if they'll try to stretch it out for future seasons.

Overall I've enjoyed the show so far. I liken it to Mr. Mercedes where they make little changes from the source material but it seems to work well.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?

We watched the first two episodes of YEARS AND YEARS on HBO last night. Wow, is it ever intense--and so relevant to right here and now. It's almost hard to watch at times.

I only read it once also so I went back to the book's Wikipedia page a couple times during the show's run to get a quick refresher. Craig was new. At first I thought they were going to have him be the stand-in for Lou, and then we he came on in the two-parter, that was pretty exciting. There's actually a lot in the series that I had totally forgotten was in the book:
    Spoiler:
Manx burning down his house (and Vic's escape), Lou helping Vic get to safety, Det. Hutter. I really liked how the season ended where the book began, though. I thought that was cool.

I have a feeling that since they de-aged Vic a bit (and had her
    Spoiler:
    get pregnant
earlier than book Vic), they're going to omit a huge time jump. Maybe Season 2 will be the middle third of the book, then Season 3 as the last third? I hope they don't get greedy and have it become Under the Dome (or worse, The Mist).

Another thing I really liked was how crushing of a blow it felt for us watching, realizing that
    Spoiler:
Vic's pregnancy means no RISD. And then, afterwards, while it was once her #1 goal, now it doesn't even matter to her.
I thought that (and Ashleigh's performance in that scene) was really well done.

I did too even though I knew the back stories of all the killers featured. What that says about me, I don't know. If you ever get morbidly curious, Richard Speck got turnt out big time in prison and there are some rather shocking videos of him in jail. I won't post them here but he had it coming.

Has anyone watched "The Boys" on Amazon? I've heard nothing but good things about it. It sounds crazy.

I saw that on Pornhub...probably a VERY different movie!

Actually, from the parental advisory descriptions on IMDB, it's not too far from being something you'd find on Pornhub.

Perhaps he is dead at the beginning of the season. But I believe he was alive end of season 2.

Since Epix has been free on Directv for the last month or so, watched all the Perpetual Grace Ltd season one this weekend. Great show, but still not enough to get me to pay for Epix.
Now to binge from Earth to Moon, with all those then young actors making me feel like we've all really gotten old...

    Yes. I recommend!
I finished this. I felt it negated the actual storyline and no idea where the sci-fi genre would fit in this based on where the story went. It spent more time on these kids living their lives and not looking for a solution to get to where they needed to be. Slow moving, tons of in house fighting like mostly anything related to people stuck on an island or an apocalyptic atmosphere, and clicks forming just like high school. Yes they were in high school, but banning together to survive never seems to be the trend as humanity in general is self-destructive and we see it Again in this show. Not bad, not great, meh for me.

    You give everything an 11/10!

It's a good solid 8/10 for me, maybe maybe an 8.5 depending on how it all pans out.

I recommend anyone that likes The Boys to read Irredeemable by Mark Waid - similar premise, but with a much darker world and bigger cast of characters. I'm going to conveniently link it here.

And who knows? With enough support we might get a show out of that too

Finished up the third (and final) season of Santa Clarita Diet last night. Ended on a kind of cliffhanger, but the final episode can easily serve as a finale. Such a creative, clever, laugh-out-loud funny show. I'll miss it for sure
