How could you put Bette Davis and Phillip Seymour Hoffman in the same group? Hoffman is one of my favourites but Bette Davis is an all time great.

Norton is good but hasn't done anything too great for sometime and Bale is good but he's not great yet. Fighter was his first real great performance.

I will wait to see how these votes turn out as I would love for both Davis and Hoffman to advance.

Hoffman is definitely my favourite in here, been a fan of him since Twister and Patch Adams and he's only ruled more and more since then. He's THE MATTRESS MAN for cryin out loud!

I was torn , but ultimately I had to go with Hoffman. An actor that thrives on nuances, it's such a pleasure watching him inject his gravitas into any character he plays. Doubt is definitely my favorite performance by him, what an actor.

I might be the only person on the planet, but I can't stand Hoffman. And it's not that I think he's a bad actor, but for whatever reason he just annoys me.

I don't share your sentiment, but I can understand where you're coming from Heather. Some of his roles are a bit ... snobbish (?) which might make it difficult for some to digest. In films like Magnolia or Doubt however, he really shows his worth as a serious dramatic actor. Have you seen either of those two ?
