    Holy cow!

I don't even know where to start. This is looking like a New Year's resolution for 2008 - I'd be interested to see what I read in a year.

It has never occurred to me to track the books I read over the course of a year. Cool idea, Sarah!

Here's what I can recall for 2007 in approximate reverse-chronological order. I've probably left something out.

Born Standing Up - Steve Martin
    Diary - Palahniuk
    A Clockwork Orange
    Fragile Things
    The Road
    Lolita
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
    Blaze
The Sandman, Volume III: Dream Country
    The Kite Runner
The Sandman, Volume II: The Doll's House
    Three Cups of Tea
The Sandman, Volume I: Preludes and Nocturnes
    A Thousand Splendid Suns
    Paradise - Dante (still reading)
    Purgatory - Dante
    The Inferno - Dante
    The Memory of Running
    Invisible Monsters
    Choke
McSweeny's Mammoth Treasury of Thrilling Tales
    Dreamcatcher
    Anansi Boys
    American Gods
On the Road (the only re-read on the list)

Sadly, I record everything I read, because I review them.

Also this is very misleading. I can remember everything I’ve read, while everyone else can’t. Also this list is full of magazines, comics, chapbooks, audio books, and children’s books. So don’t even think these are all novels, there is a ton of short work in this list that might be only 20 pages or so.

All Quiet on the Western Front is an amazing novel.

If you want to read something truly stunning you should try Johnny Got his Gun.

It's one of those works of fiction that really make you understand what Kafka meant when he defined what a book is.

Dalton Trumbo was a spectacular writer for a Commie.

"All Quite on the Western Front" has always been one of my favorite books. It's so moving.

Great book! And soooo much better than that old movie.

Jean, please make your list with both new books and rereads.

I'm curious to see what peoples rereads are as well. My rereads are usually the same books. ie: Harry Potter and The Dark Tower.

I think for 2008 I will actually make the list as I go so that I don't leave anything out.

I will try when I have a little time, but I don't even know how to start... I read 3 to 5 books a week, and about two thirds of the number is rereads.
