there is an entire thread dedicated to the variants. see here
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
Speaking of variants of the trade editions. I know of most of them and have most of them..at least I think I do.
I recently learned of 2 I didn't know about.
Does anyone have a list of the trade editions that have differences and what those differences are?

Terrible.
Ok, thanks guys. I appreciate it. It was in a Book Club edition of Christine, which was another red flag.
You don't know my kind.....You don't my mind.....Dark necessities are part of my design.....
It's because of the scales.
I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.
And the people bowed and prayed, to the cell phone god they made...
The scales are cool for sure!
Since I had not seen this post previously, I thought I would quote the portion about US 1st editions here as it has a lot of good information.
I knew about most of the DJ variants....and TEOTD variants.....but gotta say I did not know about the rest.
Not sure if Just After Sunset should be on this list as it is kind of like a gift edition....not unlike the unsigned Under the Dome that came with cards.

Personally I don't collect the variants. (as soon as you do, the publishers will start making 5 variants of each book). The one exception would be 'Salems's Lot, although I only own 2nd state, I would buy a 3rd state if I ever saw one, and a 1st state if I could ever afford one.
Wanted:
'Salem's Lot Portfolio #606
Fairy Tale UK S/L
I am happy with the EOTD I have. I just can't start collecting variants of everything. I hardly have enough space as it is.

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned elsewhere, but based on my digging, it’s possible to get a copy of Insomnia in either color combination from either printer, so there are really four different variants of that book. Although, in that case, I think I’d be plenty happy having a red/white from one printer and a white/red from the other.
Edit: printer, not publisher
