The Kid is a relatively ancillary role if an interesting one, bestowed with some colorful scenes and dialogue by King's latter-day restoration of his work. He has a fair amount to do in King's "director's cut" of The Stand, which includes several scenes and expanded material that didn't make it into the original edit. The Kid does not appear in previous adaptations, and Cavell must have ultimately acceded to the reality that the character just doesn't suit a lean telling of the story — hence his original exclusion from the book and reintroduction years later.
Wait, there is a directors cut of the first TV mini series? How do I get my hands on that?
I think they mean King’s uncut version of the book by that, Mike.

My wife and inlaws totally freaked out when I told them that Whoopi Golberg accepted to answer some questions for an interview.

    So here you go.
I hope that you'll freak out and much as them when they heard I was going to ask her some questions, and I hope that my english isn't too bad in this quick interview : https://club-stephenking.fr/intervie...dberg/#english

OK. TBH, I don't remember "the kid" at all in the book and I know he was not in the original mini-series.
Thanks for the clear up Alan.

He was only in the uncut version of the book. You may have read the edited version.

I am reading the uncut version for the first time and just finished the Kid part. Very interesting part. Not necessary to the story but it did give depth to the Trashcan Man.

I gotta say IDK what much more they could be doing with this. I mean the TV version was no masterpiece by any means, but it pretty much covered what you would expect in a screenplay. Now if they meAN TO TAKE A SHOT AT THE ENDING....
The Houston Astros cheated Major League Baseball from 2017-18!!!!

They cheated their way to a couple of League Championships & a World Series!!!!

Is that how we teach our kids to play the game now?????

    It was via Twitter.

A week or so ago, I saw that she started following me (@clubstephenking ).
So I sent her a DM to say hello, that I was a fan and that I knew she was a big fan of King. And then we exchanged a few more messages. That led me taking the chances of asking if she would accept anqswering some questions, and as a matter of fact, she was gonna start some press for the series a few days later... and voila

You may remember this repeated line by "The Kid:" "Ain't that right, Happy Crappy?"
He also sodomize Trashcan with a pistol. He drove a Duce coupe and drank Coors and Rebel Yell whiskey.
He was a very vivid character. Ain't that right, Happy Crappy?

Nothing I’ve seen has blown me away yet but given how passionate Josh Boone has been about King’s work and how extensive his efforts in getting this made have been I’m cautiously optimistic.
