The save system in RE6 blows. Save points seem to be 1-2 hours apart. I played the first bit of Chapter 2 of Leon's campaign and hit a checkpoint after entering a new area because I wanted to go to bed. Now I've got to replay the cemetery part all over again. One of my biggest pet peeves is having to replay significant portions of a game and I have a feeling RE6 is going to really grind my gears on this since I can't rely in the game saying "saving" to actually mean progress saved and not death checkpoint.

I woke up like 2hrs earlier than usual just to play God of War before work.
I just started obviously but man I can tell this game is gonna be special.
I'm halfway through the Chris campaign and I'm enjoying the game so far. The Leon campaign list some steam though, but the final boss was Hella cool.

more importantly though, on a general level, are you Team Leon or Team Chris?
Chris has always been kind of bland to me. I always played as Jill first in the original and I'm not a huge fan of RE5. I much prefer Leon. Claire is the superior Redfield.

I decided that I didn't remember a lot about RE5 so I'm replaying that. I got halfway through the game yesterday. It has it's moments and I do like the setting of the game, it's still the letdown I remember it being. The game plays a little better than RE4, but the RE4 had much better enemies and much better bosses. Like the chainsaw dudes in RE5 should be horrible because they're absolute bullet sponges, but I just stand my ground and blast em till they're dead...RE4 you couldn't do that so the chainsaw dudes in RE4 were far more intimidating. RE4 is definitely more difficult than RE5 too. I think I've only got 3 deaths so far in RE5 and 2 of those were my partner dying.

yeah the inclusion of Sheva brought down RE5 several notches. Would have been a much more intense experience without her. Her AI was dumb as hell and made large parts of the game feel like an escort mission.
The part with the sunlight lasers you have to avoid...Sheva for hit 4 fucking times. Sometimes she fucks with your inventory management too. Like I try to make room to combine herbs and I free up a storage and instantly she fills the spot. Right now I'm in a spot in like 5-3 where Sheva keeps dying from the bugs. Got so frustrated I started Code Veronica, which I've started like 8 times and never finished. Unless I get burned out I want to replay REmake and RE0 again. I played them all the time on GameCube. I still have them for GameCube, but I can get achievements this way lol

Confession: I've never played a single Splinter Cell game.

The original is a classic and is free now on Ubisoft's store. The graphics have always looked amazing in it, I replayed it 5-6 years ago and they really hold up, especially now that my PC is much more advanced than in 2002.
After finishing RE5 I can safely say that I don't care for it. In fact, I like it less as the game progresses. The most enjoyable parts of the game involve the African landscape which is all really done well, whether it's the shanty towns, the desert heat, the muggy swamps, the cavernous ruins...there's a genuine sense of adventure to it that even Resident Evil 4 lacked. But then the back half of the game in labs, factories, and ships just doesn't do it for me. The final portion of RE4 on the island is the weakest part of the game too, but not like the last third of RE5 which is just a slog. The boss battles are very annoying with an AI partner too.
Thankfully I picked up the Gold edition of RE7 for free with my MS rewards points so I'll get into that next week. I have to do a Let's Play type video for my Video Game Theory/History class on a point and click game Thimblewood Park, so that's going to take up my gaming focus this coming week.

Cyberpunk is actually not bad now with all the patches they've released for it.
I'm having fun playing it. Just a bummer that the game isn't special like it was supposed to be.
who's copping that Dead Space remake next week??
That's probably as accurate a comparison as you can make. Besides Resident Evil, Dead Space is probably my favorite horror series.
The games handle remarkably well. The sound design is top notch, combat is fun. Atmosphere is intense and creepy. If you like the RE formula, you'll love this game.
