    Dreamcatcher.

    I saw the movie years back, and I remember laughing at Morgan Freeman's eyebrows through the entire thing - I couldn't even focus on the story due to his fucking eyebrows.
    Spoiler:

    I was so disappointed with the movie, and I remember thinking: "It's probably a hell of a book though."
    I'm glad the details of the movie didn't stick with me, because I'm really enjoying the book now.

    Loved this book. Also I thought it was pretty cool that it takes place at Quabbin, as I live fairly close to it.
    Only the gentle are ever really strong.

    I am really really enjoying it so far. Luckily, it's one of those super long books, too. So I get to spend a lot of time with it.

    Halfway through, and I'm fucking loving it. It's exactly the kind of story that I love. Surprisingly, there's a number of really great science fiction ideas in there, as it explores a parallel world and how one key difference has affected the history of that world, for better and for worse. More importantly, of course, it's got a fucking alcoholic, chain-smoking, mega-swearing, ninja-Nazi ass-kicking monkey as the lead character, so obviously, it's also a lot of fun. And that's the main thing I've been loving about this story: it's nice to see a science fiction story that doesn't take itself too seriously and the writer just aims to tell a really good story involving parallel universes, conspiracies, princes and monkeys, and has some great ideas while avoiding the trap of trying to tell the reader how incredibly important the story is.
