I just finished The Neon Rain, and Black Cherry Blues by James Lee Burke.

I've read Neon Rain by James Lee Burke a few years ago and really enjoyed it, but it's the only one of his I've read. I think if I re-read it or read others of his, I'd dig it even more now that I've actually visited New Orleans and fell in love with the atmosphere and culture.
I finished my A Song of Ice and Fire re-read last night, so I started a free book I got on my Kindle. It's called Depraved by Bryan Smith. It's a novel from the hardcore horror genre and the reviews I read sounded like it's extremely violent. I only read a few pages last night and have never read anything from this genre before, so I don't know if I'll like it or not, but hey, it was free.

I just finished a book called Rope Burns. It is a collection of short stories that include the Million Dollar Baby one the movie was based on. It was a great book. The title story was awesome though, and I'm kind of thinking they should have based the movie on THAT. Also, Mister Scrap and Danger weren't in the original Million Dollar Baby story, they were their own short story, I guess they combined the two to flesh it out a bit. Still one of my favorite movies, and that is definitely a good book.

Actually, the only other Discworld novel I've read in full is Thud!, so I decided to start from scratch when I saw a 3 for 2 offer in Waterstone's and read them in order. It's shocking that I've hardly read any though, especially how much I love Discworld Noir, which is what got me interested in the first place, really. Ever played that?Ah, good ole Rincewind.

I haven't. I have played the first Discworld adventure game, though. It was a lot of fun.

If you can find Noir anywhere, get it. It's a lot of fun. New characters, really different feel to it than the usual Discworld stuff, but still one of the funniest and most quotable games I've ever played. "It made me think all the Disc's a stage, and all us men and women merely players. Unfortunatly, it also made feel as though I had been cast as an extra...in my own life story."
Also, Corporal "Nobby" Nobbs = win. Made me want to read a Watch book after his many brilliant appearances in the game.

So I'm very distraught by the graphic novel I am reading. Lost Girls, which is basically about wendy from peter pan, alice from alice in wonderland, and dorothy from wizard of oz. Spoilers below
It basically talks about their life and times, and it's all pretty much sex. I was excited about this, they are telling their stories as older women in the middle of their orgies and such. The upsetting part is that when they have flashback they're like, when I was 14... then go into a pretty filthy sex scene, and there are images to accompany it being a graphic novel. I'm no prude, or else I wouldn't be reading it, but the fact that they state their age, and it's very young, makes the ENTIRE book not enjoyable. If they could have just said 18 the book would be great, but no....
Are you talking about the Alan Moore book? Did you not look in the book before you bought it? Or read up on it?

I am a HUGE Peter Pan freak. I actually have the first edition novel. I got it off of amazon because it was recommended by a friend. I read up on it a little, but I still had to have it.
I need to read the original book. And I mean really need to read it. Because the basic story of Peter Pan is slowly becoming a big influence on my writing. At least, the story that I think I know. Why I need to read the book soon, I think!

They have so many versions, but I think there was a reprint of the original done sometime after 2000. I grew up incredibly poor, and I think this is what lead to my obsession because it had so much to do with imagination. It really is a fantastic tale!
