Gene Wolfe - The Citadel of the Autarch. Last in a series though he later added two more.

I'm planning on finishing The Citadel, then the last in Vance's Dying Earth series, Herbert's God Emperor of Dune and possibly Clarke's Space Odyssey books before the end of the year.

Just finished The Drop by Dennis Lehane. 4/5.

I've been reading the Inspector Banks series (British detective) by Peter Robinson on my Kindle Paperwhite, switching up between every few to something else. Just started Dark Screams: Volume One (ebook-only) edited by Brian James Freeman and Richard Chizmar of the Cemetery Dance Publications. It includes Weeds by Stephen King.

No, I planned on watching them after I've plowed through all of the novels. That's what I did with Harry Potter too!

Finished The King/Hill Road Rage CD (Throttle and Duel) and moved on to The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.
On my Kindle I finished Revival and am now reading Dark Screams Vol I. Finished King's Weeds and now onto The Price You Pay by Kelley Armstrong.

Meanwhile Mentats of Dune sits partially read on my nightstand. I may have to start over at the beginning! :-)

Are all the Dune books written by Herbert's son and Anderson as good as the original novels? I'm almost finished with God Emperor. I like the idea of more stories but I also like what Dan Simmons planned for Hyperion...no sequels, prequels or shared universe stories by his family or anyone else.

People either love or hate the Dune books penned by son Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson. Personally, I like them. Besides if you just read the six Frank Herbert books it ends on a cliff hanger. The enw books end the story as well as fill in the gaps of the Butlerian Jihad, the 3-4 decades before Dune, creation of the Sisterhood, the Mentats, ....

By the way, God Emperor is probably the hardest to get through of all the Dune books in my honest opinion!
