    Default Brand New

Does anyone else know this band? They have been around for about 8 years now but didn't start getting recognition until their second album. A song from their 3rd album was featured on Guitar Hero 5 and was, imo, a terrible choice considering the rest of their music.

What makes them unique these days is that while they have their own sound, no two songs really sound the same. The first album is the only one to sound similar to one another at times, but it was more pop-punk stuff.

Their lyrics and vocals are raw and unlike most music these days, feels real. They are about my favourite band. While their last album contained a little more metal and screaming in certain songs I think most of their last 3 albums would be enjoyed by anyone who enjoys Rock music that isn't commercialised. These guys make the music they want to make and I am drawn to that.

this youtube channel has lots of their stuff if anyone is interested. I put asterixes next the songs I posted you should give first listen to.

Strange, what I think is their best song on Daisy isn't on this site, Bought A Bride. And those songs from Daisy sound distorted or something from here. My versions of the songs are crisp.

I really like Brand New. I have one friend who won't shut up about them, and he burned me a copy of The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me. I was kinda blown away. I really like Daisy, too, but have yet to get a hold of the others.

Deja Entendu is a really good album. their first album has a few good songs but is hindered by the type of music. Really teenagy pop punky music but even in that genre, they stand out. Logan To Government Center and Jude Law and a Semester Abroad are two good songs from the album, besides what I posted.

If you get the chance to see them in concert...take it. They put on a hell of a show and take little bit from each album for their setlists.

Hey, your post on the NP thread go me thinking: what's your favorite BN album? Mine is Daisy, both because of how much I enjoy the experimentation and because it isn't as frontloaded as The Devil and God. I thought that album had a weak ending, as opposed to the greatness of Noro.

Deja Entendu is lyrically and musically one of the best "scene" records of the past ten years. They also never disappoint live.
