I've been in and out, love, (insert A Clockwork Orange joke here), but I am one of the Kubrick votes. Very difficult choice. I almost didn't vote at all since I didn't get a chance to vote in N proper. However, since I would've voted for SK originally, I decided that it would be appropriate to vote on the tie.

Same here. No matter how important you think he was, it's not as great as what he thought of himself.
2001 leaves me cold. (Except for HAL) I could criticize quite a bit about Kubrick's films... Still, he had undeniable talent, and made some that I definitely like: Dr. Strangelove (Sellers was always great; also George C. Scott character) Full Metal Jacket, (especially the first half) Barry Lyndon. I feel that Lynch is making a decent showing here, given tastes shown by our other polls (and previous TGT contests.) He's great, but it's not that surprising. As for me, however... well, I first saw The Elephant Man when I was, like, 11... and I happen to be a fanatic even for "Twin Peaks" -- although I agree that it's certainly not the best thing he ever made. If Lynch somehow passed Kubrick by Thursday, I'd be all for that.
I LOVE Kubrick. I mean most wh know me knows ACO is one of my favorite movies of all time. My vote goes to Lynch though. I love everything he does.

I'm actually kinda relieved i missed this vote. That is the unfairest of all imaginable pairings. Both men are mad geniuses.

The main problem with this contest, as has already been said, is that people haven't watched enough movies. I mean, if we do this on a regular basis, and everybody who loves cinema works on enlightening people about their favorite directors in between, the picture might change from year to year... or not.
