Cameron is amongst the best filmmakers of all time and easily the best action director of all time. But Eastwood is so fantastic in his simplicity I just love him as a director.

Abrams is in here? Really? Star Trek was alright but really?

Although Cameron directed one of my all time favorite movies, the Coen brothers are much more consistent so I gave my vote to them.

I wish I hadn't bought it before I'd seen it. Not that it was terrible but it wasn't amazing either. There are hundreds of directors more deserving to be in this contents than Abrams...like was Cameron Crowe even in it?

Me, tho, I did think that it was terrible... but I just might agree to call it "alright" -- because it could have been more terrible.

Oh there's no question that Eastwood is a top tier director, but the CB's films have always held a special fascination for me. The Big Lebowski, Fargo, No Country For Old Men - all part of a very well rounded filmography.

Cameron, and I think that The Abyss is a glaring omission from his filmography. Cameron has always been incredibly innovative with special effects, and has been the first to use many techniques. (The water in the abyss, the liquid metal in T2, Avatar....really?)

On Nolan, I think that putting him in with this group so that the Coens could knock out Ridley Scott was a good idea...

Double arg! I agree, agree and then some... but just can't seem to get over C.E.'s work.

I can't believe Cameron is behind Eastwood and the Coens. Personal opinion, but I think both Eastwood and the Coens are over-rated, especially Eastwood.

Not surprising (considering your views on Tarantino), but your likely in the minority again.

    Also

The Abyss won the 1990 Oscar for Best Visual Effects. It was also nominated for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Cinematography and Best Sound. The studio lobbied hard to get Michael Biehn nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.[citation needed]

The Abyss was nominated for many other awards, such as by Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films and the American Society of Cinematographers. It ended up winning a total of three other awards from these organizations.
