Roland Deschain Needs Our Help!!!!!
Roland, sans any ka-tet at his back, faces another mad wizard and WE CAN HELP HIM WIN!!! There is an online fantasy cage match being held by some of the editors at Del Rey. In the early rounds Roland has faired well, he's already taken out Elric AND Gandalf but now he faces Rand Al'thor, whose Balefire can completely eradicate someone FROM EXISTENCE ITSELF.

I didn't show up here the first couple rounds because Roland was holding his own. But once he started taking a beating, I figured it was time to rally the troops. You know, people who like Roland Deschain, people like you. I don't work for SUVUDU, Del Rey, or McMillian. I'm just a fan boy... LIKE YOU.
And if posting here means listening to some backwater electronic El Jeffe tell me how much flair I am (or am not) supposed to be wearing, then no, I will not be posting much.
If, on the other hand, I can post the occasional fun link that is OF COMMON INTEREST TO THE RAISON DETRE OF THIS SITE without having to hear about how I broke some unwritten rule, then yea, I would love to post about my 30+ years of reading and enjoying Stephen King.
I think Matt was just trying to point out that we'd love for you to introduce yourself and get to know you ... as well as hear how excited you are about Roland's pretend face off with Gandalf! So excited, in fact, that you didn't even bother to search to find that one of our fine members here have already posted the exact same link you did! (I already voted.) It's okay, though, we all get ahead of ourselves sometimes. If you choose to stick around and post some more: awesome, if not: I guess we'll live with it!

Its Rand Al'thor he faces now, and comparing Gandalf to Rand is like comparing Trashcan Man to The Crimson King.
(BTW, ALL of Roland's face offs are "pretend," and I am AS excited about these as I am about the one's that came before... so shoot me.)

The confusing thing is, balefire destroys a person (or object for that matter) before they were hit with it unmaking all they ever did in that time. The stronger the blast, the further back in time it eats. Everything you did in that time never happened, except in the memories of those who witnessed it.I must say this sentence is something.
I wonder if balefire can break a person's ka itself. Or fulfills it? Hermm....

(Incidentally I'm reading the latest Wheel of Time book 'The Gathering Storm' at the moment. Co written by Brandon Sanderson now that Robert Jordan had moved on to the clearing at the end of the path. Or partying in Tel'eran'rhiod.* It's ok, so far. A bit different in feel due to the new writer but not bad at all.)

yes Book12 has a slightly different feel, but not a lot, all-in-all i was very happy with it.
PS. Roland, IRL, wouldn't stand a chance with Rand Al'thor of course, much as I love him. But then Aragorn wouldnt stand a chance against Roland, say.
