have just watched the Mist

wish I had watched it earlier - I would have nominated it here

idiotic, pointless, totally anti-King ending. Bachman version?

I love that movie. It's probably my all time favorite horror film.

But opinions are opinions.

I really liked the movie too. I thought the ending was much better than the ending of the story. I also envisioned a cheap, B horror flick when I was reading it, and Darabont said in an interview that the B flick look is what he was shooting for in the movie. I think it was a complete success.

I agree. In fact, I liked it way more than the novella (which I did like). I thought the scenes that were added and those that were taken out were spot-on. And the ending was perfect, imo.
