Okay, so I'm going to try to say this without sounding like a dick, but there's this thing I see happening a lot. First, I'm not saying I know every filmmaker, director or whatever, but I like to think I'm fairly well educated in that department.
I get annoyed when a trailer drops and it's like "A New Comedy From Miranda July". Who? This is not Quentin Tarantino or Spike Lee. Now, I get it, she's probably a big deal in the Indie world, but there's not one film in her filmography that will have you saying, "Holy shit! She directed that? I love that film!" The most noteworthy film she directed is Me and You and Everyone We Know, which was pretty forgettable.
Also, it's not like we are dealing with a young upstart here. She's been working since the early 2000s. Am I the only one that gets annoyed by that, or am I blowing it out of proportion?
