The only way for Roland to meet the man in black is to let Jake fall.
Or did you all forget that.
Plus Roland saves Jake mutiple times throughout the series.
Kind of works like REDEMPTION.

What if Roland had lost to Cort and had been forced to go west?

Answering that question realy depends on whether or not you have finished the whole series or not.

Because knowing what the DT realy is and then accepting the quest is just insanity.
