I think the drastic difference in time between the release of the music CD players and the computer CD players might be the computer's CD's had to be read and writable... while the music ones only...

actually looked this up...

according to tech hive.com, the first computer to ship with a internal cd ROM drive was the Performa 600 made by Apple in 1992.

still much earlier than I knew about.

I knew CD's were invented... I had one of the first CD players... a Technics 1x sampling that cost me $2200.00 back in 1983 (real mega bucks in the 80's)
there were only 3-4 music CDs available at...

88? I didn't realize they had CD's and DVD's for computers back then?.... I know all I was using were the five and a quarter inch floppies.

yep... I was a DOS wizard back then.... and Basic, Fortran and Cobal programming guru.

remember my first class in Basic with punch cards.

well, I've been a PC user since going to DOS prompt and typing in "win" to start window's 3.0. I have always owned one... I own 3 PC desktops now, plus 2 laptops.
